St Aubyns Church, Plymouth

Description of the works

St Aubyn’s Church stands as a Grade II* listed building in the heart of Devonport. Unfortunately congregation numbers have fallen and the Parish have not been able to generate sufficient money to maintain and repair the building.

A partnership was formed between the Diocese of Exeter, the Parochial Church Council, Plymouth City Council and Devonport Regeneration Community Partnership to restore the building and convert it into a library and combined worship space.

The building required a high level of repair and conservation work and the project has given the opportunity to install a new gallery to the west end of the building, restoring the original internal proportions of the building and providing a new location for the church organ which is original to the building.
