University of Exeter Laver Building

Description of the works

The project comprised the refurbishment and rearrangement of the LT6 Lecture facility.  This involved refurbishing and updating the facility originally provided in the 1960s.  The Lecture Theatre was re-arranged to incorporate state of the art Audio Visual Projectors, controls and LED coloured lighting.

New facilities were also provided within this project including a special tutorial room called the “Incubator Room” and a technician’s room.  The main Lecture Theatre is also provided with three tutorial group areas at the front and back of the tiered seating. These are set up so that the lecturer can break up the student group for more informal teaching in groups.

The services including ventilation and lighting have been upgraded to the latest standards.  The project was completed with handover arranged to coincide with the start of the new academic year in October 2009.
