West Buckland Sports Hall

Whilst the finished building carries the name of (and was opened by) former pupil and Olympic Athlete Jonathan Edwards the project provides much more than just sports facilities.

The main hall offers the flexible provision for tennis (full and short), a basket ball court, 4 county sized badminton courts, five-a-side football, indoor cricket nets and 4 changing rooms. In addition to the sports facilities the design allows the building to accommodate examinations, small functions and, with the future provision for motorised retractable seating, lectures and presentation days for up to 280 people.

Other accommodation includes an extensively equipped gymnasium, two lecture rooms, a staff room, a viewing area and a large common room for sixth form pupils which can double a meeting and presentation space. The scheme was delivered on-time, within budget and to a high quality, robust finish.
